West End, NC--After taking a commanding lead early in the round, the West team survived a late comeback from the East team to win the Tarheel Youth Golf Association's East-West Challenge by the score of 25 to 22. This match play event was hosted by Seven Lakes Country Club in West End, NC. The competition has a team of 31 junior golfers from Eastern North Carolina facing off against a team of 31 junior golfers from Western North Carolina over 2 days of match play. Sunday's format consisted of 31 singles matches. Those singles matches were split evenly, 16 to 16.

This junior tournament is conducted by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association, the North Carolina junior association of the Carolinas Golf Association.
