Final Results

Stoney Creek, NC—Robert Hoadley of Southern Pines showed the patience of a true veteran in winning the Tarheel Youth Golf Association’s one-day series event at Stoney Creek Golf Club. Hoadley, the runner-up in the 2006 NC Junior Championship, finished with a one under par 71 on the very tough Tom Jackson designed golf course. Hoadley’s round was good enough for a one stoke victory over Matthew Younts of Stokesdale. Hoadley, got off to a great start by birding holes two through four, but then bogeyed four of his next nine holes. He then collected himself and birdied the last two holes for the victory. Finishing in third place was James Ellis of Greenville with a one over par round of 73.

In the girls’ 14-18 division, Courtney Taylor of Gastonia repeated as winner of the one day event at Stoney Creek Golf Club. Taylor’s round of 84 was one shot better than Erica Creed’s, of Kernersville, round of 85 and 2 shots better than Courtney Rousse’s of Holly Springs round of 85. Casey Ward of Chapel Hill won the girls 12-13 age division with a round of 80, while Dillon Shoe won the boys 12-13 age division with a two over par 74. Tanner Owen of High Point finished with 33 points in the 11 and under age division, which played a modified stableford points system format.

The event was conducted by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association, a division of the Carolinas Golf Association.
