Mebane, NC –Final results for the 2015 TYGA Tournament of Champions hosted by Mill Creek GC in Mebane, NC on Wednesday, August 12, 2015.
Brett McLamb of Coats, NC won both the Boys’ Overall Championship as well as the Boys’ 16-18 after shooting a second round 72 to force a playoff with first round leader Josh Bryan of Chapel Hill, NC. Bryan who was battling a nose bleed throughout the round fought hard to finish at 144. The pair went to the tenth tee for extra holes. McLamb made 4 on the first playoff hole to take home first place. Justin Emmons of Asheboro, NC finished solo third at 147.
Natalie Petersen of Holly Springs, NC won first place in the Girls’ 16-18 division with a total score of 156. Finishing in second place was Makenna Hammer of Clayton, NC. In solo third place was Ellen Watson of Smithfield, NC.
In one of the most impressive finishes in TYGA history, Ben Crow of Pinehurst, NC closed the final round with his first career hole-in-one on the 8th hole, then backed it up with a birdie on the 9th to win the Boys’ 14-15 division by a slim margin of two shots. Brandon Einstein of Clemmons, NC finished in second place with a 149 total. Carson Castelli of Greensboro, NC placed third in the division.
The Girls’ Overall winner and winner of the Girls’ 14-15 age division, Sarah Funderburg of Wilmington, NC, finished with rounds of 74-79 for a 153 total. Kayla Parson of Cary, NC finished in second place with Kathryn Elliot of Coats, NC finishing third.
Josh Lendach of Raleigh, NC won the Boys’ 12-13 after firing a second round 72 giving him a two day total of 146. Landon Barnes of Pilot Mountain, NC finished in second place a slim three shots back of Lendach. Four players found themselves tied for third after two days as Michael Blair of Kernersville, NC, Whit Edwards of Greensboro, NC, Walkers Isley of Oak Island, NC and Austin Tate of Siler City, NC finished at 153 total.
The Girls’ 12-13 division was won by Becca Connolly of Winston-Salem, NC after rounds of 86-81. Mallory Fobes took home solo second after finishing with a 168 total. Lotte Fox of Raleigh came in solo third.
Hampton Roberts of Cary, NC won the 11-Under division finishing with 70 points. Shuford Edwards of Greensboro, NC placed second a mere two points behind Roberts. Ben Childress of Salisbury, NC and Will Guidry of Winterville, NC finished tied for third in the division with 61 points.

The Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA), a division of the Carolinas Golf Association, a 501 (c) 3 organization, provides playing opportunities for its members, conducts educational seminars and events, acts as a junior golf informational clearinghouse, provides free USGA handicaps to junior golfers in North Carolina, recruits sponsor clubs that grant junior access to golf facilities in North Carolina, publishes monthly North Carolina junior rankings, and awards Junior Player of the Year and All-State awards to the top juniors in North Carolina. Membership is open to any boy or girl who are legal residents of N.C; are 18 years of age and under; and who have not started college.
