October 11, 2015
Buies Creek, NC –Final results for the 6th TYGA State Championship hosted by Keith Hills Golf Club in Buies, NC on Sunday, October 11.
Nicholas Lyerly of Salisbury, NC verified his position as the number one boys player in the TYGA rankings by capturing the 6th TYGA State Championship. With rain shorting the event to an 18 hole championship, Lyerly shot an even par 72 to win by one shot over Eric Bae of Pinehurst, NC and Nathan Hawkins of Lexington, NC. Bae, the former number one ranked player in the state and current number two, did not let Lyerly run away with the victory. Paired together, Bae finished birdie, eagle, forcing Lyerly to make a four foot par putt on 18 for the win. Hawkins also had a shot at even par but an unfortunate bogey on his last hole left him one shot short.
Sarah Funderburg, NC continued her stellar playing this year shooting a 77 in the TYGA State Championship to win. Funderburg who has not finished outside the top-20 in any event in 2015, brought home her fifth TYGA victory this year. Michelle Harn of Charlotte, NC finished in solo second just two shots back of Funderburg. Makenzie Battle of Aberdeen, NC placed third with a score of 80.
