TYGA announces Triad Chapter
The Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) is proud to announce the creation of the first TYGA Chapter to promote and support junior golf at the local level. TYGA, a division of the Carolinas Golf Association has agreed to form the TYGA Triad Chapter. TYGA will oversee the Chapter and Precision Golf School will run the day-to-day operations of the chapter.
The Triad Chapter will promote junior golf through instructional and education programs and support junior golf by conducting junior golf tournaments in the Triad region. “TYGA is excited to work with Precision Golf School to grow the game in the Triad region,” stated Jason Cox, Director of Junior Golf for the Carolinas Golf Association. “They have done a tremendous job through the years promoting the game and we hope we can bring new resources to take junior golf in the Triad to a higher level,” Cox added.
The mission of the TYGA Triad Chapter is to administer and produce events for junior golfers at a local, developmental level. The goal is to expand the overall growth of junior golf in the Triad. The Chapter will administer 12 events in 2016 and hold off-course experiences. These experiences, held on non-event days, will provide juniors the ability to learn more about topics such as rules, college golf, fitness and the golf industry.
"Our community is rich with golf tradition and the need for developing junior golfers is extremely important to sustain the momentum that has already been created. Local juniors have been without a developmental series of events for a number of years now." Stated Chris Haarlow, PGA and Director Instructor at Precision Golf School. "Playing and learning on the course is vital to develop the overall interest the young players have in the game. This is truly a great opportunity to work with Jason and the TYGA staff to develop this concept and get more kids playing on the course," added Haarlow.
