Preview: Bojangles Junior Open
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 4, 2020) -- The Tarheel Youth Golf Association will conduct the TYGA Bojangles Junior Boys' Open at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, N.C. from June 6-7, 2020. (6,890 yards, par 36-36--72)

Players to watch:
- Garrett Risner of Holly Springs, N.C. is the defending champion of the TYGA Bojangles Junior. Risner had seven top-20 finishes in 2019 and is currently No. 10 in the N.C. Junior Boys’ Rankings. He also finished third in the Pinehurst North and South Junior in July 2019. Risner will play golf at Elon University this fall.
- Josh Lendach of Raleigh, N.C. is currently ranked No. 13 in the N.C. Junior Boys’ Rankings. Lendach tied for third in the Dustin Johnson World Qualifying tournament in February and seventh in the Carolinas-Georgia Junior in January.
- Casey Osiecki of New Bern, N.C. is tied for No. 26 in the N.C. Junior Boys’ Rankings. He placed 12th in the UNC Tarheel Junior Championship in February and 16th in the CCNS Junior Masters, also in February.
- Sam Davidson of Asheboro, N.C. is the No. 16 ranked golfer in the N.C. Junior Boys’ Rankings with a third place finish in his last outing, February 23rd at the TYGA Triad Pinewood one-day event. Davidson won last year’s TYGA Triad Bill Harvey Memorial Junior with a score of 66-71. He also finished fifth place in the Pinehurst Donald Ross Junior back in December.
- Alan Van Asch of Raleigh, N.C. is the No. 55 player in the N.C. Junior Boys’ Rankings and has played in five events already in 2020, finishing in the top-10 in each of them. All in all, Van Asch has 14 top-10 finishes in the last year and earned Winternational Junior Series at Pinehurst’s Player of the Year honors for the Freshman/Sophomore division.
- Kyle Kushnir of Raleigh, N.C. is the No. 28 golfer in the N.C. Junior Boys’ Rankings. Kushnir won the Tarheel Golf Foundation Bullet and Peggy Bell Holiday Classic in November after winning the TYGA State Championship in September.
- Tyler Jones of Jacksonville, N.C. is the No. 87 golfer in the N.C. Junior Boys’ Rankings. Jones finished tied for sixth in his only outing so far in 2020 at the HJGT Pinehurst Junior. Last year, he finished in the top-10 at both the TYGA Roy Jones Junior (T8) and the TYGA Sapona Junior Open (T5).
Cutter Creek is a beautiful but challenging 18 hole championship golf course where skills and mental game will be tested. The course was designed by renowned golf course architect Bob Moore and has hosted numerous PGA, CGA, LPGA and USGA events. Cutter Creek GC has hosted the Bojangles Junior Boys' Open since its inaugural tournament in 2015.
The Bojangles Junior Boys' Open is a 36-hole, stroke play event.
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer ages 13 to 18 as of June 1, 2020, who has not started college and is a legal resident of North Carolina.
