Preview: TYGA Coastal Plains Junior Amateur
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 28, 2020) -- The Tarheel Youth Golf Association will conduct the TYGA Coastal Plains Junior Amateur at Greenville Country Club in Greenville, N.C. from June 30 - July 1, 2020. Boys' 14-15 & 16-18 Blue tees (6,257 yards, par 71, 71.4/126) Boys' 12-13 White tees (5,557 yards, par 71, 68.0/119). All girls White tees (5,557 yards, par 71, 71.7/115).

Players to watch:

Drew Green of Greenville, N.C. recently won the TYGA One Day at Country Club of Johnston County. Back in February he placed 17th at the 11th Annual CCNC Junior Masters.

Cameron Hardison of Greenville, N.C. is coming off of a third place finish at the TYGA Bojangles Junior Open. He also placed ninth in the Triad Greensboro Junior Boys’ Open and eleventh at the Winternationals Series Event #8.

Jennings Glenn of Raleigh, N.C. placed seventh at the Bojangles Junior Open with a total score of 147. He placed fifth at the NC Junior Boys last week. Glenn is a rising senior in high school.

Eston Lee of Four Oaks, N.C. is currently ranked No. 46th in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. Lee is a recent high school graduate and has had top 20 finishes last fall and winter.

Tyler DeChellis of Clayton, N.C. is currently ranked No. 8 in the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings. He placed 17th in the Jimmy Anderson, and fifth in the Dustin Johnson World Qualifying in February. Tyler is a rising senior in high school.

Julie Fieldler of New Bern, N.C. is a rising senior in high school. Her most recent win was the TYGA One Day at Country Club of Johnston County. She also placed sixth in the TYGA Sandhills Flyers tournament.

Emily Matthews of Swansboro N.C. recently placed second in the TYGA One Day Country Club of Johnston County. She also placed second in the 3A East Regional in October, and fourth in the TYGA One Day Wilmington Muni last summer as well.

The Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA), a division of the Carolinas Golf Association, a 501 (c) 3 organization, provides playing opportunities for its members, conducts educational seminars and events, acts as a junior golf informational clearinghouse, provides free USGA handicaps to junior golfers in North Carolina, recruits sponsor clubs that grant junior access to golf facilities in North Carolina, publishes monthly North Carolina junior rankings, and awards Junior Player of the Year and All-State awards to the top juniors in North Carolina. Membership is open to any boy or girl who are legal residents of N.C; are 18 years of age and under; and who have not started college.
