Entries open 1/13 for North State High School Challenge
The NC Junior Golf Foundation and the Tarheel Youth Golf Association have announced the second North State High School Challenge. This event will be a 36-hole stroke play tournament for public and private high school golf teams from North Carolina. The 2014 North State High School Challenge will be contested March 21-22, 2014 on the Lakes course at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, NC.
This marks the second year of the event, the Patriots of Pinecrest Senior High (Pinehurst, NC) won the inaugural championship by a margin of 5 strokes over Forestview High School (Gastonia, NC). Broughton High School (Raleigh, NC) finished in solo third with a total of 633, three shots behind Forestview.
Joshua Martin of Pinecrest HS, a 2015 verbal UNC Golf commit, took home the individual honors in the 2013 North State High School Challenge. Martin’s two-day total of 147 was one better than Will Long of Gastonia who now plays his college golf at Auburn University. Davis Bateman of Charlotte, NC and Jack Sides of New Bern, NC finished tied for third with a 152 total. Bateman now attends UNC and is a freshman on the golf team , while Jack Sides is a freshman on High Point University golf team.

DATES March 21-22, 2014
FORMATThe championship is conducted at 36-holes of team and individual stroke play. Each team may be represented by five players and must return four individual 18-hole scores each day to qualify for the team championship.
ELIGIBILITY Open to any public and private North Carolina high school golf team. Team members must meet age eligibility set by their school.
PRIZESTrophies are awarded to the championship school, members of the championship team, and the individual medalist and runner-up.
