TYGA ANNOUNCES THE TYGA TOTS TOURNAMENT PROGRAM
WEST END, N.C. - The Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA), a division of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA), is proud to announce the expansion of its junior golf tournament program. TYGA has created a new series of one day events for junior girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 11 years of age called the TYGA Tots. These events will be conducted across NC and will consist of 9-hole tournaments played under a modified Stableford scoring system.
TYGA and CGA are dedicated to playing within the USGA Rules of Golf. For this reason TYGA TOTS will use the modified Stableford scoring method which allows juniors to learn how to play the game within the Rules of Golf and still playing in a timely manner.
“Our one-day tournament series has been a huge success for the older divisions, but we believe the younger ages need their own event so we can develop those ages and try and get more juniors on the golf course” stated CGA Director of Junior Golf Jason Cox. “The younger ages need more education on the rules of the game and we feel this new series will help us educate those juniors” added Cox.
The first TYGA Tots event will be on Saturday, October 4 at Bradford Creek Golf Club in Greenville, NC. A second event on Saturday, October 25 will be hosted by Asheboro Municipal GC in Asheboro, NC with more TYGA Tots events to come in the spring of 2015.
