TYGA Announces 2014 N.C. Boys' All-State Teams
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- 30 boys have been named to the 2014 N.C. Boys’ All-State Golf Team by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association and the Carolinas Golf Association, honoring those junior golfers who have had the most success in amateur and junior golf events at the local, state, regional and national levels over the past 12 months. The boys' first team is led by Josh Martin of Pinehurst, the 2014 N.C. Junior Boys' Player of the Year. Martin, a high school senior, won the Men's N.C. Amateur Championship becoming the youngest champion of NC’s most prestigious amateur tournament. Also named to the first team are Carolinas Golf Association Junior Player of the Year Eric Bae of Cary, Bryce Hendrix of Greenville, Nicholas Lyerly of Salisbury, Doc Redman of Raleigh, Davis Richards of China Grove, Henry Shimp of Charlotte, Alex Smalley of Wake Forest, Patrick Stephenson of Four Oaks and Thomas Walsh of High Point.
To be eligible, boys must have played in a minimum of five TYGA N.C. rankings events in 2014. The awards were determined by a combination of each player's scoring differential and the total points earned in the rankings events. These outstanding juniors will be honored at the N.C. Junior Golf Night Awards Banquet on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Pine Needles Resort in Southern Pines, NC.
